The Gurdaspur Co-Operative Sugar Mill, Gurdaspur was initially register by the name of PUNJAB KHAND UDYOG LIMITED, GURDASPUR vide pb Govt’s. letter No. 21, Dated 04-04-1977 and had started it’s first sugar cane crushing season in the year 1980-81.
This Sugar Mill’s installed capacity was 1250 T.C.D.(Tones of cane per day). Keeping in view the availability if sugar cane in Mills area in abundance, it’s installed capacity was increased from 1250 T.C.D. to 2000 T.C.D. in year 1987.
This Sugar Mill got registered by Co-Operative Society vide registration No. 171, Dated 30-10-1987 with Co-operative Department. The Govt. of Punjab merged this sugar mill in the Co-operative Sector in the year 1991-92 and it’s name was changed “The Gurdaspur Coop Sugar Mills Ltd., Gurdaspur”. Initially till 30-6-1981, total expenditure of 5.25 cr was incurred to install this Mill. The Mill started it’s first crushing season in the year 1980-81 and thereafter running continuously and completed it’s 36th crushing season successfully in the year 2015-16.


  • Up-gradation & Modernization of the Mill from 2000 TCD to 3000-3300 TCD at total outlay of Rs. 27.50 Crores.
  • To set-up Co-generation Project in the pattern of Budehwal Coop. Sugar Mill Ltd., through Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (P.I.D.B.).
  • To Re-start the Distillery Unit on BOOT basis.
  • To set-up Tissue Culture Lab.

Area of Land

The Gurdaspur Co-operative Sugar Mill acquires 99 Acres as Total Area. Among this Land Area 29 Acres had been transferred to Sugar Factory/Distillery and 42 Acres acquired by Colony/Offices.
